You're completely right about Wingert, Michael. I was just shocked to see him in the position to take a shot in the first place as it was a pretty piece of skill to get him in front of goal. However, I really think his own shock and surprise at being in such a position caused him to over-think his shot and gave the defender time to get into him.

In WIngert's defense, one of the Houston defenders clipped him when he went for that shot. He didn't totally blow it.

Findley on the other hand, needs to learn to finish if he wants to make the WC team!

First they have to keep Blanco under control. Olave has the ability to do this but must keep his concentration, and his temper. Second RSL has to keep their composure and their confidence. They need to keep possession of the ball and move forward and not be afraid to shoot. NO BUNKERING! RSL has the speed to blow Chicago out of the water (and into the Fire) if only they can keep it together.

Want to make sure everything is working properly. And also chime in.
In a nutshell, what RSL needs to do is simple:
Contain Blanco, not yield the midfield to Chicago (those are one and the same, really).
Play solid defense.
Score more goals than Chicago (Movsisyan magic anyone?)

This was the sort of game they had to win. Three points here and they were back in touch. Now they failed to break the Houston defence down, I think that is them done. Very frustrating for their fans it has to be said.

Tim never ruled out a return to the MLS when asked this question during All-Star week, but I'd have to assume it won't happen for quite a while. When you look at "older" US keepers still making waves in the EPL (Friedel & Hahnemann), it's hard to think that Howard would be heading back to the states any time soon.

Tim Howard has done extremely well in an Everton shirt and will probably continue to do so in the up and coming Premier League season. The move to Manchester United didn't quite work out for him, but he has built his reputation up a great deal in the last couple of years.

Do we think he will end up finishing his career in the MLS?

While he'll be suspended for the match, he'll still be in the press box at Toyota park with access to radio communication to his assistant coaches.

I actually remember a time last season when he was suspended from a match and enjoyed his time in the press box because it gave him a different perspective in terms of formations and how RSL were rotating. Let's hope this week's time in the press box will give him a different perspective to help RSL make a push to the playoffs.

From what I saw, this looked like a very entertaining game. Everton were certainly given a very tough test, but managed to come through on penalties. Ironic that American keeper Tim Howard was the hero for them!
